Looking to connect your new construction project to the Consumers
Energy electric or natural gas grid? You've come to the right place.
Believe it or not, it's not as complicated as you might think. Just
follow these four simple steps:
- Whether you are seeking temporary or permanent service, you
will need to place a service request with our Energy Solutions
department. You may do this by calling our office at 800-696-6552
and speaking with a member of our team or by completing our online
service request form below. Our Energy Solutions
staff consists of:
Paul Sams Rural residential, farm, small business
Jeff Paxton City and town residential, rural subdivisions
Dave Stineman Large business and
industrial
Please have the following information available
so that we may arrange installation and service as quickly as
possible:
- subdivision name (if any)
- lot number or a parcel description
- service address
- property owner name
- a billing contact
- a billing address
Regarding electric service, a meter base must be installed before
you request permanent service. View specification and instruction
sheets on how to install
a meter base. Also, be sure to contact Iowa One Call at 1-800-292-8989
two working days before you begin installation in order to obtain
the temporary marking of current subsurface facilities.
-
Once your request has been placed, a member of our Energy Solutions
team will contact you within one business day to confirm that
the information you submitted is accurate. We will then review
your property within five business days to determine how best
to install the line.
-
After a route has been determined, we work with you to correct
problems or write a work order for installation. Once the work
order is written, we will call Iowa One Call to obtain digging
information so that other utilities can mark their underground
facilities.
- Once the state mandated two-day notification requirement for
Iowa One Call has been met, we will determine when our crews can
arrive to install the line.
The entire process ideally takes approximately two to three weeks.
