2010 Residential Incentives
Water Heating Incentives
The water heater program offers incentives to members that purchase an electric or natural gas water heater. The premium quality water heater program provides incentives for efficient models.
A drain water heat recovery system recovers drain waste heat primarily while people are showering or using hot water at a sink. They can reduce electric water heating cost up to 25%.
Energy Star qualified appliances and products are expected to provide at least 10% reduction in energy use when compared to standard equipment. Only Energy Star labeled electric appliances, which include refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and clothes washers will be eligible for an incentive from this program.
This program helps to improve indoor air quality for residential and small commercial customers. This program only applies to whole-house air quality systems such as electronic air filters, radon abatement systems, heat/energy recovery ventilators and ultra violet (UV) air purifiers. The following equipment does not qualify: Self-charging electrostatic air cleaners that slip into the existing filter slot, portable air cleaners and forced air radon abatement system installed to remove radon from a sealed crawl space. Miscellaneous appliances include high efficiency televisions and Energy Star® dehumidifiers must meet specific criteria.
Fluorescent lights are more energy efficient and produce about three to four times more light per unit of electricity than incandescent lights. Compact fluorescent light bulbs use up to 75 percent less energy and last ten times longer than incandescent bulbs.
Strategically located energy efficient dusk-to-dawn lighting adds personal safety, deters thieves, and reduces the opportunity for vandalism of your property.
Many homeowners choose a geothermal heat pump because of the even and consistent temperatures in the home, affordability from the savings from efficient heating and cooling in a single unit, and for peace of mind because they’re reliable and low-maintenance.
You can rest assured knowing that your new home has all the comforts of an All Star Home. For your home to qualify for this special designation from Consumers Energy, your new home has to include:
New electric heating and cooling systems
Premium quality electric water heater (EF .94)
Energy Star® electric appliances (clothes washer, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer)
An adjustable speed drive, also known as a variable speed drive, variable frequency drive or adjustable frequency drive is an electronic device that controls motor speed by varying the frequency of AC electricity in response to an electrical signal.
