2001 Power Supply Forum Hosted
Two Iowa Touchstone Energy cooperatives recently sponsored an in-depth
public forum on energy issues. Consumers Energy and Central Iowa
Power Cooperative (CIPCO), its power supplier, hosted the 2001 Power
Supply Forum on Sept. 6 in Nevada, Iowa.
The focus of the forum was to bring together local, regional and
national spokespersons to address the market outlook, the correlation
of growth and energy supply to economic development and job creation,
and the national evergy policy as proposed by the current administration.
Dr. Craig Reed, senior policy advisor in the Office of the Secretary
at theU.S. Department of Energy, was the keynote speaker. Reed is
principally responsible for coordinating the implementation of the
National Energy Policy.
