Member Appreciation Event To Be Held For Local Energy Cooperative
Members
Each year Consumers Energy, a local energy cooperative in Marshalltown,
holds an event to show appreciation for their member/owners. This
year's Member Appreciation and Information Day will be held at Ag
Information Center in Nevada, Iowa, on June 4th from 3:00 p.m. to
7:00 p.m. Pork & More of Albion, Iowa will provide food and
refreshments. A health fair is also planned where Story County Hospital
will be giving free cholesterol checks as well as checking blood
pressure and body fat levels. There will be bucket rides for the
children and a chance to dress up as a lineman with actual lineman
attire and have their picture takens as a "Future Lineman of
America!"
This year's event is different than it has been in the past, whereas
we are focusing on creating opportuniites for educating our members
about topics such as power quality and reliability issues along
with information on ground source heat pumps. We have scheduled
breakout sessions to begin at 4:00 p.m. and conclude at 6:00 p.m.
This year's breakout session presenters are Steve Steenhoek of Ziegler,
who will discuss Power Reliability: Sizing and Selecting a Generator;
Roy Hick of Catapillar will discuss Power Quality: Protection for
Electronic Equipment; and Al Latchum will be presenting Ground Source
Heat Pumps: Finding the Right Application. In order to enable parents
with young children to attend these sessions, we have arranged for
free childcare provided by the staff of Consumers Energy.
