RENEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAMS
RENEW — Iowa
A naturally occurring resource in Iowa
There is great beauty in Iowa...the streams...the wildlife...the springtime
flowers...the trees...and the people who live in each of our communities.
But there are few programs like RENEW-Iowa that are as concerned
about protecting the environment and its people. You can make a
difference today by supporting Iowa's own homegrown energy program...RENEW-Iowa.
You've probably heard of ethanol for your car. It's a blend of 10% ethanol
made from corn and 90% conventional gasoline. This blend is commonly
known as E10. More and more you hear about soy diesel for trucks
and buses, which can be as little as 5% soy oil blended with 95%
regular diesel fuel on up to a 20% blend. The 5% blend is commonly
known as B5.
Are you someone who is concerned about the environment and our future generations?
Now you can choose whether to power your home or business with
10%, 50%, or even 100% renewable resources. RENEW-Iowa is a mix
of locally produced renewable energy from wind turbines and solar
sources combined with electricity generated from traditional sources
such as coal, nuclear, and natural gas. With RENEW-Iowa you have
three options: RE-10*, which is power that comes from 10% renewable
sources and 90% traditional sources; RE-50* that is a 50% blend;
and RE-100* which is produced from 100% renewable energy sources.
Bio-fuels, organic foods, air quality, and renewable source of energy are
growing concerns of Iowans. That's why Consumers Energy is committed
to helping you learn about alternative energy technologies and
offering renewable energy products for use today.
For as little as $20 a month we can work together to protect the environment
and reduce our reliance on energy imports so that Iowa will continue
to be a beautiful place that we can be proud to call home long
into the future.

*Members are not guaranteed that renewable energy will be delivered to
their premises for use: but rather their purchases will cause renewable
energy to be purchased by the Cooperative for delivery into the
electric system, from which the member is served, which in effect
displaces energy produced from other sources.
